I offer nature-led garden design and care, creating resilient gardens that reflect my clients’ lifestyles and support local wildlife. I work with what is already on site, bringing together scientific thinking, design and hands-on horticulture. Working in my clients’ gardens every week helps me understand what thrives locally and how gardens change throughout the seasons. That experience directly influences my designs. I listen closely to what each client wants, then consider how to make changes gently and thoughtfully.
Gardens have always been part of my life. I began gardening on our family’s organic allotment and also started designing gardens at around ten years old. Gardening remained important to me, but I chose science as my first career. I studied Biomedical Science at undergraduate level, specialising in microbiology and plant pathology. I then worked at Long Ashton Research Station before moving into clinical microbiology, public health and academic research. I later brought those interests together, studying horticulture with the RHS and training in garden design at the Garden Design School, at the University of Bristol Botanic Garden, where I graduated with distinction. My scientific background still shapes how I work: I observe carefully, ask questions and look for evidence before making decisions.
I lead the Bristol & Bath Cluster Group for the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers and am a member of The Gardeners Guild and the Chartered Institute of Horticulture. I’m currently studying towards the Level 2 Award in Forest Gardening with The Orchard Project. Alongside my work, I volunteer as a Master Composter with Garden Organic in North Somerset, chair the BS3 Wildlife Group and serve on the organising committee of the South Bristol Gardening Club.
My Approach
Supporting local wildlife is at the heart of my work. I take time to understand what’s working in your garden and to discuss how the space could work better for you, so any changes support both your needs and the health of the garden.
Each project is unique, from full redesigns to regular maintenance, and I will work closely with you to create a cohesive, functional space that is also a haven of natural beauty.
Collaboration is Key
Collaboration and communication are at the core of my work. I have developed excellent relationships with horticultural nurseries, landscape contractors and suppliers to ensure attention to detail at every stage, allowing your garden to be delivered and maintained to the highest possible standard.
Where I Work
I work predominantly in Bristol & Bath, North Somerset, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and South Wales.
I am open to working elsewhere throughout the United Kingdom and on special projects internationally.
